Therapeutic Thinking Essex (Formerly Essex Steps)

Therapeutic Thinking Essex is fundamentally centred on a therapeutic approach to behaviour and is successfully embedded in multiple authorities across southern England. Our training is a user-friendly approach which supports delegates to consistently understand, plan for and respond to prosocial, difficult and dangerous behaviour.

The programme is designed to provide high-quality understanding and training in the management of behaviour and the prevention of behaviour from escalating. It includes ethical restrictive physical intervention (restraint) training.

Therapeutic Thinking Essex has the following aims:

      *  To support settings with developing a therapeutic approach to behaviour
      *  To promote the inseparable link between teaching, learning and behaviour
      *  To improve staff confidence and safety
      *  To support the inclusion of those with difficult or dangerous behaviours
      *  To reduce exclusions
      *  To support consistency within services
      *  To support Senior Leadership Teams in the development of quality policy and planning

The Therapeutic Thinking Essex programme, delivered through Therapeutic Thinking (Step On) and Principles Of Restraint Reduction (Step Up) courses, is designed to provide high quality understanding and training in the management of challenging behaviour. It includes ethical physical intervention and restrictive physical intervention (restraint) training.

Therapeutic Thinking is delivered by practitioners from the Essex Special School Education Trust and quality assured partner practitioners.

Therapeutic Thinking courses are available for mainstream/special Schools and care/respite settings.
